Nico's Restaurant, nestled at 1458 W North Temple St, Salt Lake City, UT, is quickly becoming a local favorite for its authentic Mexican cuisine. Despite its modest exterior and limited seating, the vibrant atmosphere and warm hospitality draw patrons in. Culinary highlights include the much-lauded smothered pork burrito, which customer 'tuituu1' declares a must-try when in the city. Reviewers rave about the freshness of the homemade salsa that accompanies chips—an irresistible start to any meal. Dale Hicks describes the Barbacoa con Borrega (lamb tacos) as "amazingly delicious," alongside Fajitas and a chicken taco salad that showcase the restaurant's commitment to authentic flavors. There's a delightful variety, from breakfast staples like the Breakfast Burrito and Chilaquiles to mouthwatering dinner options like Camarones A La Diabla and deep-fried Chimichangas. Guests appreciate the reasonable prices, making for an excellent value, especially when paired with consistently attentive service. Kahner Cleveland encourages potential diners not to judge the restaurant by its exterior, highlighting the delicious offerings and friendly staff. Traveling through Utah and staying at the KOA, and this place is right next door. Looked it up and TONS of great reviews, so we had to try it. Definitely did not disappoint, and all the great reviews were on point. Chips and salsa to start was delicious - salsa has got to be homemade; very fresh with just the right bite. I had to go with the specialty - Barbacoa ls Borrega (lamb tacos) plus a big bowl of soup. Amazingly delicious. We also had Fajitas, carne asada Enchilada burrito & taco salad with chicken. All the food was very authentic, flavorful, and very tasty. We finished with some fresh made churros filled with strawberry jam. Prices are more than reasonable, but there is limited seating inside. Service was outstanding.

Located at the corner right next to the Salt Lake City KOA. So-we walk there every time we stay at the KOA. I like the simple outdoor picnic tables, limited searing inside. I really like the food! Today we had the taco and enchilada special, one all beef, one all chicken. The chicken and beef were great, good quality shredded. Taste was very good, food served hot. The daily special comes with a drink making it a good value. One basket of chips/salsa included. Server checked on us a couple times. We will return.

Do NOT let the look of this place from the outside be the reason you turn around. Delicious authentic Mexican food from a locally-owned business. Very friendly staff, great food, great authentic atmosphere. Food comes out quick. Highly recommend a stop in.

Authentic and delicious. One of the best menudo I have tried in Salt Lake City. The tacos de barbacoa were also tasty. It took a while to get the food but honestly it was better to wait than to get something fast. Worth trying if you like real Mexican food.

Food was amazing. Can’t wait to come back to try other items on the menu. Authentic, and can control your own spice level. Totally worth a try.

Such good Mexican food!! We've been trying to find a good Mexican place in Salt Lake county for a longggg time and this place checked all the boxes!! Combination plate options, homemade chips and salsa, flavorful meat that wasn't too dry, great service. Definitely recommend Nicos :)
